X-rated Kylie thrills fans in knee-high leather boots, satin gloves and silver hot pants

It has been less than three weeks since she picked up her OBE – but last night Kylie Minogue gave a hot-blooded performance that would hardly go down well at Buckingham Palace.

The diminutive Australian singer adopted an outrageous sado-masochistic theme during her gig in London’s O2 Arena, more suited to Formula 1 boss Max Mosley’s sex games than a mainstream pop concert.

Her kinky routine was said to be inspired by her latest album, X and Kylie certainly looked X-rated in her dominatrix inspired getup.

She appeared at the former Millennium Dome in knee-high leather boots, flanked by hooded henchmen brandishing fencing foils and clad in PVC.

The dancers, wearing bizarre skintight black and gold outfits, knelt at Kylie’s feet before raising her aloft and saluting her with their swords.

It was never like this when she was in Neighbours.

The pop starlet was performing the first of seven dates in London as part of her European tour KylieX2008.

Looking almost decade younger than her 40 years the fresh-faced singer showed she still has the stamina to perform, staying on stage for an impressive two-and-a-half hours.

Stamina: Kylie was onstage for more than two hours

On Kylie's website she explained the thinking behind her reinvention. 'The eclectic mix of sounds on X is affording me an opportunity to explore and develop a new live show that is fresh, exhilarating and innovative,' she said.

Her sexy style was a world away from earlier this month, when a demure Kylie collected her OBE from Prince Charles. Dressed in a high-necked Yves Saint Laurent pink dress she was the picture of propriety at Buckingham Palace.
