Penny Lancaster helps her (very) old man to get up

Rod Stewart rang in his 63rd birthday last month - and he certainly appears to be feeling his age.

The once energetic rocker was forced to call on his sprightly young wife Penny Lancaster to help him to his feet during a family day out in New Zealand yesterday.

Creaky: Rod looked to be feeling his age as he slowly eased off the ground

Rod, who was on a break between performances, looked to be a little creaky as he struggled to get upright after spending the afternoon lounging around on the beach front in Auckland.

The couple were joined by their two-year-old son, Alastair, who spent time building sand castles as his parents watched on.

And there may be another on the way - Rod and Penny sparked pregnancy rumours after he was spotted apparently kissing her stomach during an outing in LA earlier this month.

Aching: Rod appeared to be in a little bit of pain as he tried to get comfortable on the sand

While a spokesperson denied the 36-year-old is expecting, she has been open about her desire for more children.

During an interview with Sharon Osbourne shortly after Alastair's birth, she said she'd like to have a brother or sister for him.

She said at the time: "We hope there will be another one. We're planning on it and hopefully after Strictly Come Dancing we'll start trying again."
