Geri and Mel B in weight war

As Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Melanie Brown prepare to return to the stage after almost a decade, it's clear they are both determined to be in better shape than ever.

Last night, mother of one Halliwell showed off the amazing results of her exhausting daily training session as she sashayed down the red carpet at a charity bash.

The 34-year-old, who is regularly seen pounding the pavement with her personal trainer in London's Highgate, made the most of her toned physique in a plunging, figure-hugging gown.

Not to be outdone, the usually buxom Mel B, who gave birth to daughter Angel in April, stepped out in Beverly Hills that same day looking incredibly trim.

The star reportedly lost two stone following the birth of her child through dieting and regular 90-minute workouts, but her weight appears to have plummeted even further in recent weeks thanks to daily vigorous training sessions for Dancing With The Stars.

Her shrinking waistline may be a welcomed benefit of the intense lessons, but Mel B admits they are taking their toll on her body.

Asked where she feels pain after training sessions, she has said: "My feet, my trunk, my arms, my lats and my stack. I could go on and on."

The Spice Girls are preparing to return to the stage after almost a decade, and have just added two new London dates - January 15 and 16 - to their tour due to "phenomenal public demand".

Tickets for their December 15 show sold out in just 38 seconds and were appearing on eBay, asking fans for as much as £750

Tickets for the US leg of the tour also go on sale on Saturday and are expected to sell out immediately, organisers said.

Geri and Mel B will be joined by fellow bandmates Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm and new mother Emma Bunton as they launch their world tour in Vancouver, Canada, on December 2.

They will also perform in cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, San Jose, Shanghai, Madrid, Beijing and Cape Town.

Tickets for the new shows will go on sale from 10am on Saturday from the 02 Arena on a "first come, first served" basis.
