Homecoming: the former EastEnders star has returned to Britain after an attempt to conquer Hollywood

She returned to Britain earlier this year after her much-hyped remake of the 1970s science fiction show was panned by critics and not renewed for a second series.

At the time, sources claimed she was "defeated and depressed" by the outcome of her efforts.

But the 23-year-old has dusted herself off and emerged as quite the blushing bride for her new role as schoolteacher Saz Paley, who is caught in a love triangle.

She teams up with Sean Maguire, fellow former EastEnder who starred in this year's comedy Meet the Spartans, and Coyote Ugly's Adam Garcia for the ITV two-part romantic comedy.

Mr Eleven, by Shameless writer Amanda Coe, takes its title from research which shows a number of British women settle down with their 11th partner.

The programme is set to be broadcast later this year.
