Make-up free Claire Sweeney goes from chic to barefaced cheek

Claire Sweeney donned her best frock to wow the paparazzi at the premiere of the new St Trinian's movie.

But just like Cinderella the next day it was back to reality, as the bare-faced actress popped out to the shops with all traces of glamour scrubbed from her make-up free face.

The 36-year-old Liverpudlian cut an enviable figure in a tight purple bandeau dress at the London screening earlier this week.

With her blonde hair styled, full make-up and purple satin shoes to compliment her gown, Claire matched up to the sexy St Trinian's stars in attendance; Gemma Arterton, Tamsin Egerton and Kathryn Drysdale.

The former Brookside actress joined fellow celebrities Russell Brand, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Girls Aloud, Trinny Woodall, Colin Firth and Rupert Everett on the red carpet at the Empire Leicester Square.

But in stark contrast 24 hours later she had swapped the red carpet look for a an unfashionable Coleen McLoughlin-style velour tracksuit in purple, and worn down sheepskin boots to pick up the morning papers.

While she was paparazzi-ready at the premiere, poor Claire was clearly unprepared for her close-up first thing in the morning, outside her London home.

The former Chicago star popped into a newsagents and bought several newspapers - perhaps in the hope of catching a glimpse of herself on the red carpet the night before.

Last week Claire, who rose to fame in Channel 4 television soap opera Brookside joined Bonnie Langford, Ruthie Henshall and Denise Van Outen at the 10th anniversary performance of Chicago at London's Cambridge Theatre.

Amrita: Girl Next Door turns Hot Girl

Amrita Rao is all set to shock the audience with her look in 'My Name is Anthony Gonsalves'.

The petite actor, who has always had the girl-next-door image, will be seen in a smoking hot avatar in the movie, in a very sensual song, 'Tum Miley'.

Amrita, who will be seen in a mini skirt and a halter top, says, "The song is about attitude and style. The styling is fresh. It's a different new look and the song is very groovy, feel good and romantic. It was like a picnic for the shooting for the song."

The actor also added that one has to surprise the audience at times, and that the look is classy, despite the little pieces of clothing. The song is shot in Goa, and is choreographed by Bosco-Caesar.

Saif has to wait for marriage

Kareena Kapoor says she keeps her work and love life separate.

Kapoor said in an interview published that work was her focus right now and marriage to her boyfriend and well-known actor Saif Ali Khan was a long way off.

"They are two different compartments,'' she said.

She has dreamed of marriage and children like most women, but said: "At this point I am too young to think about it. We will take each year as it comes, not each day as it comes.''

Kareena recently ended a three-year romance with Shahid Kapur , with whom she starred in the hit love story Jab We Met.

Kapoor also won praise from critics last year for "Omkara,'' a Bollywood adaptation of Shakespeare's "Othello.''

Kapoor said Khan was very supportive since he too worked hard to succeed in India's movie industry.

"I am highly ambitious. My strength, my confidence and everything else stems from my ability to work hard in my career which is the pivotal point of my life,'' she said. "It's beyond everything.''

He refused to kiss Nandana

Debutant director Anand Rai whose thriller Strangers releases this Friday, has an interesting story to tell.

"The script required a kissing scene. I nervously approached my leading lady Nandana Sen and spent some time convincing her. She eventually agreed. How was I to know the objection would come from the other party?"

The film's leading man Jimmy Sheirgil refused to smooch Nandana. "He was adamant. He said he wouldn't have done the film if he knew about the kiss. I had no option but to drop it."

Anand is all praise for his cast. "Jimmy is among our most underrated actors. For the other leading man's role I needed a man of a few words. K.K Menon fitted the bill. As for the girl, I needed someone who would look convincing as a girl who has spent all her life in London. Nandana Sen was perfect."

Rai is quite bewildered by reports that Strangers is based in Alfred Hitcock's Strangers On A Train.

"I really don't know where that came from. Yes, the film does have Strangers as its title and there's a train running through the plot. But beyond this, my film is as close to Hitchcock as Jimmy Shergil is to Jimmy Mistry. Mine is an original story," the debutant director brags.

Oh yeah? We shall see.

Anand shot the film entirely in London. "And not as touristic city. I've gone into lanes and bylanes of London. And unlike other films shot abroad I've even shot the interiors in London."

Yes, but Anand couldn't get Jimmy Sheirgil to kiss.

Aishwarya wants everyone to get married

Seven months into wedlock, a joyous Bollywood actress Aishwarya Bachchan, who married Abhishek Bachchan, recommended everyone to enter matrimony. "It's very difficult to articulate, put it down in just a few sentences because it's obviously a very, very wonderful and joyous phase and I strongly recommend it," she said when asked about her feelings of being a married woman.

"Well, it's a beautiful chapter in my life and it's a fantastic part of the journey. I'd recommend (it) to every one of you out here and I am blissfully happy. What more can one say," she added. Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in April, and industry analysts say their marriage created Bollywood's ultimate power couple with public interest in the couple being likened to Hollywood duo of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Earlier in the day, the former Miss World dazzled audiences as she took the ramp wearing a blue sequenced ensemble at the launch of the Bridal collection of Swiss watch company Longines of whom she is a brand ambassador.

Strictly's Gethin set to dance off with opera diva Katherine Jenkins heart

Strictly Come Dancing star Gethin Jones has found more than his dancing feet on the dance show - it's also found where he found the courage to ask opera diva Katherine Jenkins out, and now the two are dating.

The Welsh pair have been secretly dating since Katherine - who calls herself "The opera Madonna", sang on the show back in October.


And the 27-year-old singer has confirmed the pair are enjoying getting to know one another.

She told The Mirror: "We've been out a few times and we're both Welsh. It's early days, we have known each other a long time."

Gethin, 29, is said to developed an interest in Katherine when she appeared as a guest on his show Blue Peter two years ago. But up until recently did not have the courage to ask her out.



A source said: "They have met a few times in the past and always got on well - but Katherine had been in a steady relationship for years.

"They've met at a few Welsh events and Gethin was pleased when she was invited to watch him dance.

"It was natural that they should have a chat after the show because they are both Welsh and come from similar backgrounds.

The source told the South Wales Evening Post: "Gethin plucked up courage to ask Katherine if she fancied a drink and he was delighted when she accepted.

"The first date went well and they've been to a concert, a few meals and it is going well so far."

Songbird Katherine, who is starring in West End dance show Viva La Diva with ballet dancer Darcey Bussell, split with long-term boyfriend, singer Steve Hart, last year after six years together.

In an twist, Katherine has unwittingly entered the Strictly v X Factor battle as she is set to appear in this week's X Factor on ITV1 while Gethin performs on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing for a place in the final.

Katherine will perform a duet with the show's favourite to win, fellow Welsh singer Rhydian Roberts.

And Gethin may have competition from the peroxide blonde one, as self-confessed virgin Rhydian said he has fancied Katherine "for ages".

Superwag Coleen launches controversial style book for 10-year-olds

Coleen McLoughlin is launching a controversial guide with top tips to look glamorous and beautiful - for children as young as 10.

The fiancee of Manchester United and England ace Wayne Rooney, 22, has signed a new deal with publishers HarperCollins to write a series of childrens books called, 'Coleen Style Queen'.

The range of books will feature short stories about a young fictional character inspired by McLoughlin's childhood.

The schoolgirl will face a series of fashion challenges and dilemmas throughout her school years.

The first two books in the series will be launched in Spring 2008.

The books will mirror Coleen's early life with her family, friends and relationships with boys.

But it is likely to provoke reaction from parents who feel children aged under 12 should not be getting tips on beauty and fashion.

Coleen also has three non-fiction books due to hit the shops next year based around her 'Real Style' reality show.

The first, called 'Coleen's Real Style' will out in September.

Coleen said: "I had a great experience working with the team at HarperCollins on my last book and really enjoyed the whole process. When they approached me about the possibility of extending the contract I was delighted."

"And Harper, who published my book this year are doing a series of books for 10-12 year-olds called Coleen Style Queen, giving tips to youngsters."
